Carefully time your visit

Children, especially young children under the age of 6, do best in the morning. Try to time your appointment at a time when he or she is rested, and most likely to cooperate. This will help promote a good visit, especially if they had past poor experiences.

BE POSITIVE

We encourage a positive environment for children during their dental visit. When talking to your child, avoid words such as "pain", "shot" "needle" or "hurt". Instead tell your child that we will use special tools to keep their teeth healthy and beautiful. We will explain to children in fun age appropriate terms what we are doing.

Remind your child that mommy and daddy also visit the dentist every 6 months. Please don't mention or share any personal negative experiences or let other children, including older siblings, do the same.

Listen  & Read

Encourage your child to share worries about visiting the dentist or having a dental exam. There are many books and videos that will walk children through the dental visit. Just make sure to read or watch the video first to make sure it is age appropriate for your child.

Start their First Dental Visit by 1 year old

Every family wants to keep their children healthy. With minimal sleep and a wiggly baby, parents sometimes find difficulty and are unsure how to properly cleanse their babies mouths.

Going in for a visit by their 1st birthday allows us to pinpoint weaknesses in their teeth. More importantly, it gives us an opportunity to prevent cavities and help them learn to have fun at their dental visits.

Pediatrician Visits

Try to schedule your dental visits BEFORE your pediatrician visits, especially when your child is very young.

Pediatricians are essential to keeping our children healthy and are a critical part of their health. But with numerous vaccinations in the early years, some children may become hesitant towards any doctor, even their dentist.

If possible, try to come visit your dentist before your pediatrician so that your child can learn to tell the difference between their pediatrician and their pediatric dentist. We promise that we will never vaccinate your child! With proper dental care, we hope that your child will never need any fillings.

Allow Playtime

For their first dental visit, try to schedule extra time for your child to play and become acquainted with the office.

Their are plenty of educational and fun toys, books and iPads to keep kids occupied. We welcome kids to play before their first appointment and they are also welcome to hang out after to enjoy themselves!

Children who are especially nervous may benefit from starting at an early age and with more frequent visits to allow them to become comfortable to the routine. Bring your kids to your regular cleanings, so they can see that everyone, including family visit their dentist every 6 months for check-ups, just like them!
